About Namugongo Girls Boarding Primary School

Namugongo Girls’ Boarding Primary School, established in 1945, is a Catholic-founded institution aimed at reducing long travel distances for local girls. Initially a day school, it has grown into a fully fledged boarding school with around 1,000 pupils.

The transformation to a boarding school began in 1976, starting with Primary Seven, and expanded in 1977 to include other classes, with the majority becoming boarders by 1979

 

Guiding Principle “GOOD SEEDS WILL RISE” is our motto, inspired by the Uganda Martyrs’ sacrifice. It emphasizes virtues such as hard work, sacrifice, self-esteem, self-actualization, and respect. Our anthem, “Good Seed Will Rise,” reinforces this ideal daily, motivating our community.

 

School Population:

 We have 47 dedicated teachers and 1,142 pupils, all girls aged 6 to 14. 

Our support staff includes 3 accountants, 2 secretaries, 1 doctor, 2 nurses, 1 medical lab technician, 15 matrons, 2 drivers, 10 cooks, 5 compound cleaners, 4 gardeners in Bulindo, 1 cobbler, and 2 store managers.

Transport

At our girls’ school, we deeply care about the safety and well-being of every pupil, including their journeys to and from school. Our transportation fleet is thoughtfully designed to meet their needs, featuring a school bus for secure and comfortable commutes, a van for smaller group trips and activities, and a truck to ensure essential supplies reach the school on time. Every trip is planned with care and compassion, reflecting our dedication to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our pupils.

Curricular Activities:

 Teaching runs from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with breaks for breakfast, porridge, lunch, and supper. The curriculum includes:

• Upper Primary: English, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Agriculture, Integrated Production Skills, Luganda, Creative Arts and Physical Education, Religious Education

• Lower Primary: English, Mathematics, Literacy I and II, Luganda, P.E., Free Activity, Music, Art and Crafts

Funding: Our school is funded through parental contributions (boarding fees) and support from the Ministry of Education and Sports.
